Igloo Maxcold Ultra Roller Cooler

Igloo Maxcold Ultra Roller CoolerManufactured by Igloo, this cooler is well known for its unique features which make it a strong choice to consider.

One of the most standout features that makes this cooler a popular seller is the fact that it can hold large bottles (two litre drinks) in an upright position. It also features an insulated technology from Igloo called MaxCol Ultratherm.

The cooler can be used to keep drinks and food fresh for up to 5 days, provided you don’t open the lid regularly. This is mainly due to Igloo’s MaxCold Ultratherm® that ensures strong insulation that can chill food and drinks for nearly a week.

A common problem we came across with most coolers is the weakness of the hinges which tend to break. The Igloo addresses this problem with fitted hinges made out of sturdy polyester plastic block commonly known as PEBAX. In most other coolers, the hinges are made out of regular polyethylene plastic.

We found the grip of the trolley handle, which operates as a push release handle, to be comfortable and allow for easy rolling. The wheels are ultra durable as well making it easy to easy to glide through. These wheels are made of plastic therefore some caution must be exercised. Do not apply excessive pressure as this may cause the wheels to snap. We also found the casing to be thicker and tougher that other wheeled coolers, which is extremely necessary to keep the stored food chilled.

The cooler is available in three sizes — 40, 50, 60 quarts. With the attached wheel and the handle, the cooler can easily carry heavy loads. The product also has a whole year’s warranty that comes at the time of purchase.

We recommend using this cooler for trips that are for a short to medium duration mainly due to its insulation technology which makes it great to lug around to camping adventures and tailgate parties. Overall we found the cooler to be reasonably priced and well built to keep cold food and drinks fresh.

One drawback we noticed was that the cooler does not have a drain to let melted ice water trickle out. Also, although the cooler is portable, we wouldn’t recommend it for long hikes. There are other alternatives that aren’t bulky that you could purchase especially if you plan to walk long distances with cold food and drinks stored in it.
